People are talking about a better vision for the future.

I recently read a terrific online article by Arianna Huffington, called. A Progressive Vision for a Divided Country at www.alternet.org.

I usually don't read her stuff, but I may do so more from now on.

In her article, she lays out some clear and straightforward responses to the dominant conservative thinking in the United States, and its associated lack of a positive vision for the future.

Are tax cuts, the only thing we can do to improve the American economy? Must we fight a war in Iraq to deal with terror?

She's trying to get at Something Better. She writes about the history of progressive legislation from the Emancipation Proclamation to the Clean Air Act, to highlight the progress we have made in the last century. This was real progress that those in power are in the process of rolling back at this minute.

She writes about how the power of vision can motivate people to participate. That's the same thing I'm trying to do with this blog. (If I only had her readership...).

She writes about how Wal-Mart is banning Laddie magazines, but is shortchanging its workers, to illustrate how corporate morality is upside down.

She hits the bull's-eye by making the point that Progressives are moral people too. Morality and concern for people is what drives the Progressive viewpoint. All Americans need to be reminded of this.

Arianna urges readers to take back the symbolism. Do what I do, wear the flag on your tie everyday at work!

Check out the article, and let me know what you think.

People want Something Better.
